With more than 16,000 team members, the company supports over 20,000 customers across 500 sites in 27 markets and operates a forwarding network that reaches 150 countries. Toll has been serving customers for more than 130 years and is part of Japan Post.
Role overview
Toll is growing its Government and Defence business through the Defence Theatre Logistics (DTL) contract and is looking for a dependable Storeperson Grade 3 to join the warehouse and logistics team in Adelaide, South Australia. The role is based at Hampstead Barracks and suits someone who is organised, safety-minded, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where accuracy and teamwork are critical.
The position supports Defence warehousing activity, including stock handling, inventory control, freight movement, and the safe management of equipment and materials. Work is carried out under supervision and must align with contractual obligations, Defence requirements, safety procedures, and operational standards.
Key duties
- Carry out warehouse and stores tasks with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and accuracy.
- Use warehouse management systems and material handling equipment to support stock control and reporting.
- Receive, store, pick, pack, and distribute Defence equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Operate forklifts, other material handling equipment, and Commonwealth vehicles where appropriately licensed.
- Support stocktake processes, including investigating stock variances and discrepancies.
- Assist with specialised activities such as dangerous goods handling and secure cage or armoury-related work, where the required training and security approvals are in place.
- Help supervise and coordinate small teams of up to 10 people.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workplace while following all safety and security expectations.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will bring warehousing experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. A current HR licence is highly desirable, and an NV1 security clearance is also highly desirable for this role.
You should be confident using IT and warehouse systems, capable of handling manual tasks, and able to stay focused on deadlines in a busy environment. A forklift licence is required or you must be willing to obtain one. A C-class driver’s licence is required, with MR, HR, HC, or MC licences considered an advantage.
Eligibility
Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Defence Security Clearance at Baseline level or higher, depending on the duties involved. Certain responsibilities may require NV1 or NV2 clearance. Candidates must also be willing to complete pre-employment screening, including criminal history, medical, and other background checks.
Why join Toll
Toll offers training, career development, and the chance to build your career in a global logistics network. The environment is supportive and inclusive, with approachable leaders and opportunities to grow into broader roles. The work also contributes directly to Australia’s Defence capability, giving the role national significance.
Application note
Interested candidates are invited to submit a resume and a short cover letter explaining their experience and motivation for joining Toll.
