Jovie is looking for flexible backup nannies to support families who need dependable childcare on an on-call basis. This role is a good fit for people who have worked as babysitters, daycare staff, nannies, or church nursery volunteers, as well as retired teachers or education professionals who prefer a smaller, child-focused setting. It also suits candidates who want to structure work around school, family responsibilities, or another part-time job.
What the role involves
- Provide in-home care for children without being asked to drive them.
- Keep up with light cleanup related to the child’s activities or meals, while avoiding regular household chores.
- Support families with children from infancy through toddler age, with the strongest need for care for children under 2 years old.
- Use your observations of each child’s age and development to guide safe, hands-on, engaging activities.
What is provided
- Pay is set at $20 to $22 per hour.
- Paid training is included, along with a nanny kit containing age-appropriate games and activities for assignments.
- There may be room to grow within the childcare field, and you may be given priority for placements with families looking for one regular nanny, either full-time or part-time.

Candidate profile

You also need dependable transportation, the ability to travel to different homes in the area, and availability on any 3 or more weekdays for 6 to 8 hour shifts between 7 am and 7 pm. Strong communication, responsiveness, and a friendly, welcoming attitude are important.
