Job description

Role overview

Jovie is hiring dependable back-up nannies for families in the Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, and Newcastle, WA areas. This role is designed for candidates who enjoy caring for children in a small, home-based setting and want a schedule that can flex around school, family responsibilities, or another job. Full-time opportunities are currently open in Seattle and the Eastside.

What the role involves

  • Provide in-home childcare for multiple families as needed, without transporting children.
  • Keep the child’s space tidy only to the extent needed for activities, meals, and common-sense cleanup.
  • Support infants through toddlers, with the greatest demand for children under 2 years old.
  • Use age-appropriate, hands-on activities to keep children safe, engaged, and learning through play.

What Jovie provides

  • Hourly pay in the range of $20 to $25.
  • Paid training and a nanny kit stocked with age-appropriate games and activity materials for assignments.
  • For full-time staff: medical stipend, paid vacation, paid holidays, student loan repayment matching funds, or retirement savings matching funds.
  • Performance-based bonuses, plus opportunities to earn gift cards and extra cash through contests.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant is someone who is comfortable working with children, can move between different homes in the area, and communicates reliably with the staffing supervisor. A positive attitude and a friendly, welcoming demeanor are important.

Working schedule and conditions

  • You should be available at least 4 days per week for 6 to 8 hour shifts between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
  • The job may require travel to different homes throughout the region.
  • The environment is active, child-focused, and includes cleaning up after activities.
  • Time outdoors may be part of the day when weather allows, along with active play.

Physical demands

  • This position includes frequent bending, lifting, squatting, reaching, and pushing.
  • You must be able to safely lift up to 35 pounds.
  • You should be able to repeatedly move from the floor to standing and back down during the day.
  • You must be able to respond quickly and handle urgent situations calmly and safely when needed.

Additional information

This opportunity is for candidates interested in on-call childcare support with flexible scheduling. Experience as a babysitter, daycare worker, nanny, church nursery volunteer, or a retired teacher/teaching professional is especially relevant, though the main requirement is solid childcare experience and infant care background.
