Job description
Role Overview
This position is for a backup nanny working with multiple families in Pasadena, CA. The role is designed for someone who enjoys a lively, adaptable environment and can support families on an as-needed basis while keeping a flexible schedule.
It may be a strong fit for people with childcare experience such as babysitting, daycare work, nannying, or church nursery volunteering, as well as retired teachers or education professionals looking for a smaller, home-based setting instead of a classroom.
What You’ll Do
- Provide in-home childcare for children without needing to drive them anywhere.
- Keep the child’s space tidy in a practical way after meals or activities, with no regular household chores expected.
- Care for children from infancy through toddlerhood, with the greatest need for children under 2 years old.
- Support children through safe, hands-on, age-appropriate activities tailored to their developmental stage.
What the Employer Provides
- Pay in the range of $20 to $22 per hour.
- Paid training plus a nanny kit stocked with games and age-suitable activity materials for assignments.
- Opportunities to grow within childcare, including priority consideration for families seeking a single full-time or part-time nanny.
- Paid sick time for both part-time and full-time schedules.
- For full-time roles, benefits can include a medical stipend, paid vacation, paid holidays, student loan repayment matching, or retirement savings matching.
- Possible mileage stipends, performance-based bonuses, and team contests or social meetups for connection and support.
- W-2 employment with unemployment insurance and resume-building experience.
Candidate Profile
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Prior experience caring for children is required, whether paid or unpaid.
- Experience with infants is mandatory.
- A dependable vehicle or other reliable transportation is needed.
- You should be able to travel to different homes throughout the area.
- Availability is required for any 3 or more weekdays, with shifts lasting 6 to 8 hours between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
- You should be responsive, communicative, and bring a warm, welcoming attitude to each family.
