Job description
Role Overview
This opportunity is for a backup nanny supporting multiple families on an as-needed basis. The role is designed for someone who enjoys active, creative childcare and needs a schedule that can adapt around school, family, or another job. It may suit experienced babysitters, daycare staff, nannies, church nursery volunteers, or retired teachers looking for a smaller setting than a classroom.
What You’ll Do
- Provide in-home care for children without being responsible for transporting them.
- Keep child-related areas tidy with only simple cleanup connected to your activities or meals.
- Support families with children from infancy through toddler age, with the strongest demand for care for children under 2.
- Use age-appropriate, hands-on activities to keep children safe, engaged, and developmentally supported.
What’s Provided
- Hourly pay of $18 to $20.
- Paid training and a nanny kit containing age-appropriate games and activities to bring to assignments.
- Opportunities to grow in the childcare field, including early consideration for families looking for a consistent full-time or part-time nanny.
- Paid sick time for both part-time and full-time schedules.
- For full-time work, benefits may include a medical stipend, paid vacation, paid holidays, student loan repayment matching funds, or retirement savings matching funds.
- Additional earning opportunities may include mileage stipends, bonuses for strong feedback, and participation in contests and team gatherings.
- W-2 employment with unemployment insurance and resume-building experience.
Schedule and Work Setup
This is an on-site role based in Del Mar, California. You should be available on any 3 or more weekdays for 6 to 8 hour shifts between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. The position requires flexibility to travel to different homes in the area, and transportation must be reliable.
Who We’re Looking For
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Prior experience caring for children is required, whether paid or unpaid.
- Infant care experience is mandatory.
- You should be comfortable traveling to various households throughout the local area.
- Strong communication, responsiveness, and a warm, positive attitude are important.
Additional Notes
This role involves working with multiple families rather than staying with one household exclusively. The employer emphasizes flexibility, teamwork with the staffing supervisor, and a friendly approach with each family.
