Job description
Role Overview
This position is for an on-call back-up nanny supporting different families with in-home child care. The work is flexible and suited to people who have experience with children and want a schedule that can adapt around school, family, or another part-time job. The environment is smaller and more personal than a classroom setting, and the role centers on dependable care, safety, and child engagement.
What the Role Involves
- Provide care for children inside the family home; transporting children is not part of the job.
- Keep things tidy only as needed for common-sense clean-up after activities or meals with the child.
- Support families needing care for infants through toddlers, with the greatest need for children under 2 years old.
- Use age-appropriate, hands-on activities to keep children safe, engaged, and developmentally supported.
- Work with multiple families and step in as needed based on scheduling needs.
Schedule and Working Style
The position is designed for people who can remain flexible and available across several weekdays. Shifts are typically 6 to 8 hours long, scheduled between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, and candidates should be open to working any 3 or more weekdays.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay ranges from $22 to $25.
- Paid training is provided, along with a nanny kit containing age-appropriate activities and games for assignments.
- There are opportunities to grow within the childcare field and to be considered first for families looking for a single consistent nanny role, either full-time or part-time.
- Paid sick time is available for both part-time and full-time schedules.
- Full-time workers may be eligible for a medical stipend, paid vacation, paid holidays, student loan repayment matching, or retirement savings matching.
- Additional earning opportunities may include mileage stipends, bonuses for strong feedback, and participation in contests and team events.
- Employment is handled as a W-2 role with unemployment insurance, helping you build your resume through formal employment.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should be at least 18 years old and have experience caring for children in either paid or unpaid settings. Infant experience is required. A reliable way to get around is necessary, along with the ability to travel to different homes in the area. Strong communication, responsiveness, and a friendly, welcoming attitude are important for success in this role.
Additional Information
This opportunity is described as engaging, creative, fun, and flexible. It is especially relevant for babysitters, daycare workers, nannies, church nursery volunteers, and retired teachers or other education professionals looking for a smaller care setting. The role is based in Redmond, WA.
