Overview
Mindrift brings subject-matter experts into project-based AI work for major technology companies. The focus is on testing, assessing, and enhancing AI systems. This is not a permanent role; participation is based on individual projects.
Role summary
As an AI Trainer for a junior journalism-focused project, you will contribute to training AI models so they can better understand and produce natural, human-like text. The work goes beyond standard writing and is intended to help AI improve in reasoning, factual precision, nuance, and clarity.
Key tasks
- Create original responses that are clear, accurate, and aligned with the project instructions.
- Write prompts designed to push and test AI capabilities.
- Develop detailed criteria for scoring AI outputs on correctness and quality.
- Work in line with style rules and quality expectations to keep output consistent.
Candidate profile
This opportunity is well suited to people who are comfortable with part-time, non-permanent project work. The preferred background includes a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Linguistics, Literature, or Education, along with at least 1 year of professional experience in Journalism, Communications, PR, or a similar field. Strong analytical thinking and solid English-language writing ability are essential.
How the project works
The workflow is: apply, complete the qualification step(s), join a project, complete assigned tasks, and receive payment.
Time commitment
During active phases, the expected workload is approximately 10 to 20 hours per week. This is only an estimate and may vary depending on the project.
Compensation
Contributors may earn up to the equivalent of $30 per hour, depending on skill level and speed of work. Pay can differ from one project to another based on scope, difficulty, and the expertise required.
