Job description
Project overview
This assignment calls for an experienced freelance illustrator to develop two front-label artworks for a new wine brand shaped by Greek mythology and inspired by the goddess Alectrona. One label is for a red GSM blend and the other for a Sauvignon Blanc. Together, they should read as a diptych: individually distinct, but visually connected as a pair when placed side by side.
Each artwork must portray Alectrona in a different setting and light treatment. The GSM label should evoke full solar brilliance, while the Sauvignon Blanc label should feel like cool dawn light. Both pieces need to share a common structure and design language, but the color palettes must differ. The visual direction should avoid cartoon-like, fantasy-heavy, or overly decorative treatment. Instead, the goal is a painted, enduring, and emotionally resonant look with noticeable atmosphere, motion, and mood.
The brief includes detailed guidance on palette, composition, and overall tone, along with specific expectations for artistic approach and final file delivery.
Deliverables
- Two front-label illustrations that work together as a matched diptych, each showing the goddess Alectrona in the requested lighting and mood
- A shared layout and design system across both labels, while keeping the palettes clearly different
- Layered source files in PSD or AI format for both labels
- CMYK, print-ready PDF files suitable for production
- A combined diptych visual for marketing use
- Work that follows the supplied palette, composition, and mood directions
- Possibility of a later phase that may include back-label artwork and additional marketing assets
Requirements
- Extensive illustration experience, ideally at a senior level and with packaging or label work
- A portfolio showing a painted, timeless, and atmospheric visual style
- Confidence in turning mythology and emotional tone into strong visual storytelling
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator, including print-production file setup
- Careful attention to detail, composition, and color balance
- Ability to provide layered source files and high-resolution production-ready artwork
- Responsiveness in communication and the ability to meet timelines
- Willingness to study provided references and work closely within a detailed creative brief
