About the Role

Park Paving Ltd., a locally owned and operated road construction company with more than 50 years of history in Edmonton, is looking for an experienced Foreman to join its Utility Division. This is a permanent full-time position offering competitive pay and benefits.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will lead utility projects and make sure they are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. You will coordinate work, manage crews, and keep communication flowing between clients, consultants, testers, company staff, and supervisors.

  • Understand the scope of each job, including production goals and target outcomes.
  • Deliver work that meets client and project specifications.
  • Plan manpower effectively, assign tasks, and delegate responsibilities when needed.
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with clients, consultants, testers, Park Paving employees, and other stakeholders.
  • Give supervisors advance notice of testing requirements and keep them informed of results.
  • Check with the Project Superintendent before starting any force account work.

Physical Demands

  • This position is physically demanding and may require long shifts, overtime, and multiple consecutive workdays.
  • You must be able to perform duties in a wide range of weather conditions, including adverse conditions.
  • The job involves stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, balancing, and climbing.
  • You should be able to handle heavy physical effort, including lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Work may include shoveling, raking, hammering pins, sweeping, and using small compaction equipment.
  • You must be able to operate equipment needed to complete the project.

Requirements

  • Background in leadership, including organizing crews and directing day-to-day work.
  • Strong judgment and leadership skills in fast-paced, complex settings.
  • Ability to work long hours, typically 5 to 6 days per week.
  • Commitment to safe and productive crew performance.
  • Experience completing safety paperwork such as daily safety meetings, inspections, and permits.
  • Physical fitness for repetitive lifting, bending, kneeling, and extended walking.
  • Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a medical and fitness assessment as a condition of employment.

Compensation

Starting pay is $40 per hour.
