Role overview
Breeze Airways is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector to support line maintenance operations in Windsor Locks, CT. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day QC activities, lead aircraft inspection work, and help maintain compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards. The position reports to the Manager, Quality Control and works closely with Technical Operations, Aircraft Maintenance, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Engineering teams.
Compensation and bonus details
- A monthly stipend of $800 is provided for this BDL QC role.
- A cash bonus of $10,000 is available after completing a 12-month commitment.
- $5,000 is paid after six months.
- An additional $5,000 is paid after 12 months.
- Base pay may go up to $39.00 per hour depending on experience and Breeze's criteria.
- A $2.00 shift differential applies for work performed between 9:00 PM and 7:30 AM.
Key responsibilities
- Apply Breeze Airways quality control policies within a line maintenance setting.
- Carry out surveillance and oversight of maintenance work to confirm compliance with Breeze standards and applicable federal regulations.
- Complete Required Inspection Item (RII) checks as defined in company manuals.
- Perform materials receiving inspections according to company procedures.
- Conduct engine borescope inspections using engineering orders and OEM guidance.
- Carry out NDT inspections in line with engineering orders and OEM data.
- Monitor workmanship and materials for compliance with Breeze and FAA requirements.
- Support the Quality Control Program, including RII processes and authorized inspectors.
- Support the Receiving Inspection Program and related procedures.
- Help maintain and improve the NDT program, workmanship standards, and performance.
- Oversee tool control processes, calibration practices, and tooling policy compliance.
- Recommend new tools or equipment that improve availability, reliability, or maintenance capability.
- Suggest maintenance program and work-scope changes when recurring issues are identified.
- Escalate safety, quality, or schedule concerns to Quality Control leadership and the Chief Inspector.
- Promote high standards in quality and safety while providing guidance to others.
- Follow SMS requirements and company safety policies, and report hazards or potential hazards.
- Use SMS principles in daily work and stay current on related training.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the Manager of Quality Control or Chief Inspector.
Requirements
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- You need a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license with no record of infractions.
- At least five years of aviation maintenance experience is required, including a minimum of three years in quality control, assurance, or inspection.
- You should understand FAR Parts 43, 65, 91, 121, and 145.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- You must hold a valid passport without travel restrictions.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States under the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
- Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime is required.
- You must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
- You should be comfortable collaborating with other departments as needed.
- A DOT pre-employment drug test is required.
- You must pass a TSA fingerprint-based criminal history check and a Breeze background check.
- You need to be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- The role requires extended standing and walking during shifts.
- Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling are part of the job.
- You must be able to climb ladders, maintenance stands, and stairs.
- Periodic sitting will be needed for administrative work.
- You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Preferred experience includes at least two years in management or a leadership role.
- A degree in Aerospace, Aviation Maintenance, or Business is preferred.
- Ten years of FAR 121 air carrier aircraft maintenance experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of Safety Management System (SMS) rules is preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, multitasking, and stress-management abilities are important.
- You should be fluent in English and comfortable working with a variety of personalities.
