Job description
Company Overview
Ingrain Limited is a flooring-focused business that delivers long-lasting, high-quality solutions for homes and commercial spaces. The team places strong emphasis on skilled workmanship, dependable service, and precise execution across a variety of flooring materials and finishes. Staff collaborate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to keep projects safe, timely, and aligned with specifications. The company values practical thinking, professionalism, and pride in doing the job well, while also providing room to build technical capability and progress within the flooring and construction field.
Role Overview
This full-time, on-site position is based in Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. The Flooring Installer will handle subfloor preparation by cleaning, levelling, and repairing surfaces so they are ready for installation. The role includes measuring and cutting flooring materials, fitting different flooring products accurately, and making sure edges and fixtures are neatly finished. You will work with hand and power tools, follow drawings or instructions, and keep the worksite safe and orderly. The role also involves speaking with clients and colleagues, checking site conditions, and offering simple guidance on how to care for flooring after installation.
Key Skills and Experience
Success in this role requires hands-on flooring installation ability, especially with hardwood and solid hardwood products, along with wider experience in flooring repair and installation across different settings. You should be comfortable using measurements, basic arithmetic, and plans or sketches to guide your work. Confidence with manual tools, awareness of health and safety practices, and the physical stamina to lift, kneel, and stand for long periods are important. Attention to detail, dependability, and the ability to work independently or with a team are also essential. Experience in flooring, construction, or another trade is preferred, and trade training or an apprenticeship would be an advantage. A valid driver’s licence is needed, as travel to job sites around Bay of Plenty may be required.
