Job description
Summary of Duties
The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of floors through various methods including cleaning, buffing, and refinishing. This role also involves carpet care and general housekeeping tasks as directed.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform comprehensive floor cleaning, including sweeping, dusting, and damp/wet mopping, with disinfection as needed.
- Maintain carpets by vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting them.
- Operate floor machines to buff floors, applying appropriate finishes.
- Execute floor refinishing procedures, including stripping and scrubbing, as required.
- Collect and dispose of trash in designated areas.
- Ensure the cleanliness of entrance and exit areas, removing debris, cleaning glass, and sweeping mats.
- Maintain and clean all equipment on a daily basis.
- Report any equipment repair needs to the supervisor promptly.
- Conduct daily cleaning of shower rooms.
- Clean assigned areas, manage trash removal, and perform spot mopping.
- Handle and dispose of biohazard containers according to protocol.
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Fulfill any additional duties as required.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. While no prior experience is necessary, comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move continuously throughout the workday.
- Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop intermittently.
- Requires the ability to walk, stand, push, pull, bend, lift, grasp, and possess fine hand coordination.
- Must have adequate vision and hearing (or use of prosthetics) to perform job functions effectively.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or carry up to 50 pounds using proper body mechanics and assistance.
- Capacity to push, pull, or move up to 100 pounds with proper body mechanics and assistance.
- Must be able to walk or stand for approximately 75% of the workday.
- Must be capable of managing the mental and emotional demands of the position.
