Job description
Role overview
This position is responsible for end-to-end finance and accounting leadership for the port business. The scope covers budgeting, financial planning and analysis, management information systems, accounting, treasury, working capital management, receivables, statutory compliance, audits, and financial reporting.
The role is important for enabling business expansion by putting strong financial controls, governance, and decision support in place.
Core responsibilities
- Drive the end-to-end annual OPEX and CAPEX budgeting cycle, including preparation, consolidation, review, finalization, approvals, and periodic budget tracking.
- Track revenue, cost, and profitability performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, identify variances, and suggest corrective actions to leadership.
- Support capital expenditure proposals and investment decisions through financial analysis and evaluation.
- Prepare and distribute monthly MIS on time and coordinate business performance reviews with relevant stakeholders.
- Review and analyze financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.
- Monitor expenses, receivables, and working capital trends, and implement measures that improve operational efficiency.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and short-term investment choices to maintain funding availability and improve returns.
- Track and close internal audit observations while strengthening financial controls and process discipline.
- Ensure statutory audits are completed within planned timelines and address audit observations appropriately.
- Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including Service Tax/GST, EPCG obligations, and other applicable laws.
- Lead, guide, and develop the finance team through communication, performance management, and capability building.
- Keep current with industry trends, regulatory updates, and modern financial systems and technologies relevant to the business.

Qualifications and experience
This role requires a Chartered Accountant qualification and at least 15 years of experience in finance and accounts. The ideal candidate should have handled complete finance operations in a large organization or in an infrastructure/port environment, with strong experience in balance sheet finalization, statutory audits, and regulatory compliance.
