Role overview
We are hiring a Field Enforcement Officer to support local communities by visiting customers at home, discussing TV licence requirements, explaining the options available to them, and helping them move forward with the right next steps. This is an independent, field-based role with full training, strong benefits, and a flexible working pattern.
Compensation and benefits
- Annual pay of £31,650.
- Choice of a company car for both business and personal use, or a £3,700 yearly car allowance.

Working pattern and location
The role is based in Bedford, United Kingdom, and is permanent and full-time. You will start and finish each day from home and travel locally across Bedford in a company vehicle or your own vehicle. To be considered, you must live in the MK40 to MK46 postcode areas.
To meet customer needs, 12 hours of the weekly 36.5 hours must be worked between 4pm and 9pm Monday to Friday, or at any time over the weekend. This creates a flexible schedule that can be adapted around your lifestyle.
Key duties
- Attend properties where no TV licence is recorded.
- Speak with customers in a clear, respectful and professional manner.
- Explain licence requirements and the choices available to them.
- Arrange and maintain payment plans where suitable.
- Use mobile technology to log visit results accurately.
- Handle decisions independently while working in the field.
- Attend court occasionally as part of the enforcement process.
Skills and experience needed
- Full UK driving licence is required.
- Previous experience in customer-facing roles is essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stay composed, professional, and resilient in challenging situations.
- Practical problem-solving ability and sound judgement.
- Careful attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
- Confidence working alone and managing your own time.
- Comfort using mobile devices and apps.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally across the MK40 to MK46 area.
- Availability for required evening and weekend working.
