About the role
This position sits within a supply chain facility and supports the day-to-day upkeep of a distribution center. The work is hands-on and helps keep operations running smoothly so products can move quickly to guests. The role involves coordinating with teammates across functions to solve issues and support business needs.
Compensation and benefits
The starting pay is $21.90 per hour. Depending on eligibility, you may also receive shift differential pay of $2.00 to $3.50 per hour.
Pay is determined by multiple factors tied to the position and may include labor market conditions, education, work experience, and certifications. Key responsibilities
- Help maintenance technicians with preventative and corrective work across the facility, including repair and servicing of hand tools and small floor machines.
- Serve as a qualified electrical assistant for electrical safety-related processes.
- Assist with installing and removing equipment and other items throughout the site.
- Inspect interior and exterior areas to identify maintenance or upkeep needs.
- Change PIT batteries, support battery maintenance, clean and paint battery equipment, and maintain battery-change logs at shift end.
- Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot Label Tec printers.
- Use hand and power tools such as drills, saws, sanders, grinders, pneumatic tools, and welders.
- Build or repair facility assets, including furniture, shelving, racks, and workbenches, using carpentry, welding, and fabrication skills as needed.
- Complete plumbing work such as faucet or sprinkler installation and repair, plus drain and sump cleaning.
- Handle painting, drywall patching, and minor concrete repair work.
- Support preventive maintenance programs, including pest control and HVAC, and keep related records updated.
- Remove cardboard bales, haul trash using large portable dumpsters, and keep the grounds orderly.
- Operate snow removal equipment to clear walkways, roads, and parking areas when assigned.
- Drive company vehicles for yard cleanup, incident response, vendor escorting, and parts/material pickups.
- Use power equipment safely, practice proper lifting techniques, and help clean spills quickly to reduce risk.
- Complete paperwork, requisitions, and daily work order logs.
- Use handheld devices and mobile apps to open and close work orders with correct labor, downtime, cause, remedy, and parts information.
- Follow required safety procedures, use PPE, and maintain a hazard-free work environment, including Lock Out/Tag Out and Arc Flash practices.
- For food and beverage sites only, carry out sanitation and maintenance practices that support industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
Physical requirements
This role requires regular movement throughout the site for up to 10 to 12 hours per shift. You must be able to lift and carry merchandise up to 47 lbs regularly and up to 60 lbs occasionally. The work may involve cold environments below freezing in food distribution settings, as well as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long periods, and wet or uneven surfaces. You must also be able to access all areas of the distribution center, including conveyor crossovers and mezzanine platforms, and have full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, foot control, and repetitive wrist motion.
