Job Description

O’Rourke & Sons Contractors Ltd is actively recruiting a proficient and dependable Excavator Operator with demonstrated experience collaborating with tarmac crews. The selected individual will be instrumental in preparing and supporting siteworks and roadworks, upholding stringent standards of safety, precision, and output on the construction site.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate excavators on road and civil engineering projects.
• Perform excavation, grading, trenching, and preparatory tasks prior to tarmac application.
• Collaborate closely with tarmac crews to facilitate a seamless workflow and punctual completion of surfacing operations.
• Provide support for kerbing, drainage, ducting, and general groundworks as needed.
• Ensure all work adheres to project specifications and site blueprints.
• Conduct daily inspections of machinery and perform basic maintenance.
• Strictly comply with all health and safety regulations and site protocols.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with site supervisors and colleagues.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid Safe Pass and CSCS card for Excavator Operator.
• Proficiency in manual handling techniques.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience operating excavators in civil or roadworks environments.
• Previous experience working with tarmac or surfacing crews is advantageous.
• A solid grasp of road construction and groundworks procedures.
