Job Description

O'Rourke & Sons Contractors is actively recruiting a Civil Groundworker to become part of our dedicated team. This role involves a variety of essential site preparation and groundwork tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform site clearance, including the removal of vegetation and other obstructions as needed.
  • Establish and prepare construction sites for upcoming work.
  • Undertake necessary demolition activities to facilitate site operations.
  • Remove and dispose of old drainage and pipework systems.
  • Prepare the ground surface for the laying of building foundations.
  • Engage in tasks such as kerbing, concreting, edging, and slabbing.
  • Excavate trenches, install drainage pipes, ducting, and lay concrete and tarmacadam.
  • Execute all facets of groundwork operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A valid driving license for a forward-tipping dumper or ride-on roller is highly advantageous.
  • Possession of any plant machinery qualification is considered a significant asset.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and maintain strong situational awareness, prioritizing safety at all times.
  • Commitment to upholding stringent health and safety standards.
  • Effective communication with machine operators, site crews, and supervisors.

Additional Information

Candidates must be able to reliably commute to or plan relocation to Loughrea, County Galway, Ireland, before commencing employment.
