About the Role
We are collaborating with a top-tier international engineering and construction company to appoint a seasoned CSA Estimator in Leixlip, County Kildare on a full-time permanent basis. This role presents a fantastic chance to be part of an industry-leading contractor handling complex and technically advanced projects across various sectors including advanced manufacturing, life sciences, data centres, and high-tech industrial facilities. The selected individual will integrate into a well-established pre-construction and commercial team, playing a pivotal role in the meticulous preparation of competitive and precise cost estimates for major projects spanning Ireland and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates and tender documentation for Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) components on large-scale construction initiatives.
- Analyze drawings, scope descriptions, and tender documents to understand project specifications and corresponding costs.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and perform cost evaluations for civil, structural, architectural, and site development activities.
- Formulate detailed cost plans, budgets, and itemized estimate breakdowns throughout the bidding procedure.
- Obtain and assess quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers to support accurate pricing.
- Contribute to procurement strategy formulation and planning of work packages.
- Spot commercial risks, opportunities, and value engineering options during pre-construction phases.
- Work collaboratively with design, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure estimates align with scope and pricing expectations.
- Prepare tender clarifications, detailed cost reports, and presentations for both internal teams and client review.
- Stay informed about market trends including material prices, labor rates, and subcontractor availability.
- Engage in continuous process improvement within estimating and pre-construction activities.
Candidate Requirements
- Possesses a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related disciplines.
- Prior experience in roles such as CSA Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, Cost Engineer, or related commercial positions.
- Comprehensive understanding of civil, structural, and architectural construction techniques and standards.
- Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, data centre, or mission-critical construction projects is highly desirable.
- Ability to accurately interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong commercial insight backed by solid analytical competencies.
- Exceptional numerical accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven track record in preparing detailed cost estimates and tenders for complex projects.
- Excellent communication abilities and proficiency in managing diverse stakeholders.
- Skilled user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with familiarity in estimating software and digital take-off tools seen as advantageous.
- Capable of working autonomously while effectively contributing to team environments.
