The Role

This permanent position is ideal for someone with a background in fabrication or manufacturing who enjoys working with numbers, interpreting technical drawings, and pricing custom metalwork projects. The estimator will be responsible for generating precise estimates, collaborating closely with internal teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered smoothly and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and comprehensive project documentation accurately
• Conduct detailed material, labor, and subcontract work take-offs
• Engage with suppliers to obtain up-to-date pricing information
• Prepare and submit thorough estimates, quotations, and tender documents
• Monitor job costs, including variations and changes throughout the project lifecycle
• Work collaboratively with project managers and workshop teams to verify estimate accuracy and project feasibility

Requirements

• Experience in estimating within sheet metal, fabrication, or a related field
• Proficient in interpreting CAD and engineering drawings
• Comprehensive knowledge of metals, materials, and fabrication techniques
• Strong skills in Excel; familiarity with estimating software is advantageous
• Excellent communication skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail
