Job description

About the company

SLR Consulting is an international environmental and sustainability advisory firm that helps clients meet their sustainability goals and financing requirements. The company operates across more than 100 offices in 13 countries and brings together specialists from different disciplines to handle complex projects around the world.

The Dubai office supports lender-backed infrastructure, industrial, and renewable energy developments across the Middle East, Africa, and emerging markets. You will join a collaborative, high-performing team contributing to important projects funded through international financing.

Role purpose

The organisation is hiring an Environmental & Social Auditor to assist with auditing, monitoring, and reporting work for projects supported by international lenders, including EPFIs, DFIs, and ECAs.

In this position, you will help carry out and lead site-based audits at construction and operational facilities, and report compliance findings directly to lenders against ESAP commitments, IFC Performance Standards, and other finance-related requirements. The role combines hands-on audit delivery, interaction with clients, site inspection work, and formal reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out environmental and social compliance audits for both construction and operational sites, including planning and field execution.
  • Lead or support on-site inspections, document checks, worker discussions, and meetings with management teams.
  • Assess compliance against IFC Performance Standards 1 to 8, World Bank Group EHS Guidelines, and lender ESAP obligations.
  • Draft detailed, high-quality audit and monitoring reports for submission to lenders.
  • Assist with disbursement-related reviews, including CPs and CSs, and track compliance actions.
  • Organise audit arrangements such as logistics, travel, and site access coordination.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and help identify future work opportunities.
  • Follow health, safety, and security requirements during travel and site visits.

Required background

The ideal candidate will hold a BSc or Master’s degree in an environmental, social, or closely related field.

They should have 3 to 6 years of experience in environmental and social consultancy or auditing, preferably on internationally financed projects, along with an ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification or an equivalent management systems auditing credential.

Strong familiarity with IFC Performance Standards and lender compliance frameworks is essential. Experience auditing industrial, infrastructure, or renewable energy projects, as well as reviewing E&S management systems and ESAP implementation, will be important for success in this role.

The role also requires strong report writing, analytical ability, fluent English, and willingness to travel internationally on a frequent basis. Arabic or another regional language would be an advantage.

Technical and behavioural expectations

  • Good capability in project management, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Ability to handle several active assignments at once while meeting strict lender deadlines.
  • Strong technical writing skills with careful attention to accuracy, clarity, and detail.
  • Confidence in presenting audit results to senior stakeholders and lender representatives.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Professional and objective approach when handling challenging conversations.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and solution-focused working style.
  • Well-developed organisational discipline and time management.
  • Comfort working independently as well as within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to quality control, health and safety, and ethical conduct.

Why join

  • Work directly with international lenders and project sponsors.
  • Gain exposure to prominent infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
  • Build expertise within a global sustainability advisory environment.
  • Enjoy a collaborative and flexible workplace culture.

Equal opportunity note

The recruitment process will consider the organisation’s approved Employment Equity Plan and Targets. Applicants with disabilities are encouraged and welcomed. The company values diversity and inclusion as part of its workplace culture.
