Job description

Role overview

SLR Consulting is hiring an experienced hydraulic modeller with strong TUFLOW expertise to strengthen its hydrology and modelling capability. The position supports flood risk management work, along with wider technical activities in water quality and related disciplines.

The consultancy works with a broad mix of private sector clients delivering practical, sustainable answers to environmental and climate-related challenges.

What the role involves

This opportunity is suited to a hydraulic modelling professional with at least 5 years of experience who can take ownership of technically demanding modelling assignments and provide clear technical direction.

Project work may include flood mitigation studies, water quality and sediment transport assessments, and large-scale green energy infrastructure. Experience working in line with Flood Planning Guidelines and the relevant hydraulic modelling standards in Ireland is expected.

The role also offers scope to contribute beyond technical delivery, including project management and business development, while becoming a valued part of an established team.

Location and working style

The position is based in the Dublin office, but the company is open to candidates elsewhere in Ireland, including Cork, and will consider remote working for the right person. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are also available.

About the company

SLR is a global sustainability consultancy with more than 4,000 employees across 6 regions and 125+ countries. Its collaborative, team-focused culture is intended to support professional development and shared success.

The organisation offers competitive pay, a broad benefits package, a company pension, healthcare cover, travel and life insurance, and a clear career framework with regular reviews and progression opportunities. Employees also receive 25 days of annual leave plus additional flexible bank holidays, along with agile working and family-friendly policies that help balance work and personal commitments.

Candidate profile

The team is looking for someone who can help advance modelling capability by applying established and emerging hydraulic modelling tools to complex flood-risk and environmental problems. The ideal candidate can lead technical work, review complex outputs, communicate clearly with clients and internal stakeholders, and support the development of junior colleagues.

Equal opportunity and support

SLR is an equal opportunities employer and aims to create an inclusive workplace where people from all backgrounds can thrive. The company particularly encourages applications from under-represented groups, including 2SLGBTQI+ people, Indigenous peoples, ethnic minority groups, women, and people with visible or invisible disabilities, including neurodivergent individuals.

If you need adjustments during the hiring process, you are encouraged to let the company know so appropriate support can be arranged. SLR is also a Disability Confident Committed employer.
