Role overview
Sunrise Senior Living is seeking a Dishwasher for the Sunrise of Killarney community in Killarney, Victoria, Australia. In this position, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized dining and kitchen environment while supporting residents, guests, and the dining services team. The role includes dishwashing, janitorial work, kitchen cleaning, storage handling, and assisting with food service tasks as needed.
Key duties
- Prepare and keep the dish and pot-washing areas ready for use.
- Run dishwashing equipment according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Wash and sanitize dishes, china, silverware, glassware, utensils, and cookware.
- Keep temperature and sanitation records for dish machines and pot/pan sinks up to date and report concerns quickly.
- Maintain equipment logs and escalate issues without delay.
- Complete daily and weekly kitchen cleaning tasks and keep logs accurate.
- Clean kitchen appliances and equipment such as stoves, ovens, fryers, microwaves, mixers, slicers, refrigerators, freezers, worktables, prep sinks, ice machines, coffee machines, hoods, and ventilation screens.
- Carry out janitorial work, including sweeping, mopping, washing walls and ceilings, sanitizing production areas, and removing trash.
- Support food preparation and plating when needed.
- Store cookware, china, glassware, utensils, janitorial supplies, and chemicals correctly.
- Help receive, store, date, label, and rotate food and non-food supplies.
- Follow occupational health and safety rules, risk management policies, PPE requirements, fire safety procedures, SDS guidance, and lockout/tagout practices.
- Assist with other dining services tasks assigned by community leadership, including dining room and bistro cleaning, table bussing and resetting, taking and delivering orders, and preparing or serving light meals.
- Work toward team goals, contribute to engagement activities, attend required meetings, and complete all mandatory training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and qualifications
The employer is looking for someone who can successfully carry out the listed duties and meet the knowledge, skill, and ability requirements for the role. One year of related work experience is preferred. A high school diploma or GED is required. Depending on regulations and laws, you may also need or be able to obtain CPR certification, a First Aid certificate, a ServSafe Food Handler card, and a local health department food handler card.
