Job description
Job purpose
This leadership position is responsible for steering the management of mission-critical devices across Specialized. The focus is on handling the full device lifecycle — from purchasing and testing to rollout, upkeep, and eventual retirement — while safeguarding quality, compliance, readiness, supplier performance, and efficient inventory use to help keep services running smoothly and support business goals. All work must follow the company’s applicable policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Direct the full lifecycle of mission-critical devices, covering sourcing, testing, rollout, maintenance, replacement, and end-of-life retirement.
- Design and supervise device management workflows that align with the required certifications, technical requirements, and operating standards.
- Manage large-scale procurement, testing, distribution, and deployment activities so devices are available on time for beneficiaries.
- Lead device fault handling efforts, ensuring issues are detected, logged, replaced, and resolved quickly to reduce service interruptions.
- Set and enforce quality expectations for repair and maintenance work carried out by third-party providers and repair workshops.
- Oversee testing and certification of newly purchased device batches to ensure they meet government and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Lab & Testing teams to assess device capabilities, track technology changes, and support forecasting of future demand.
- Maintain strong inventory planning and lifecycle tracking to preserve operational readiness and clear asset visibility.
- Partner with Procurement to define supplier evaluation criteria and support vendor selection for compliant and dependable devices.
- Track supplier performance to confirm that delivered devices satisfy approved specifications, quality standards, and contractual commitments.
- Analyze device performance patterns and operational data to surface improvement opportunities and strengthen device management practices.
- Advise leadership on device strategy, lifecycle optimization, supplier performance, and operational risk considerations.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree is also listed as an academic level.
- Preferred fields of study include Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Additional information
The role must be performed in line with internal business policies and procedures.
