Job description

About the role

The Creative Lab is a compact, multidisciplinary group made up of designers, writers, programmers, filmmakers, producers, and business thinkers. Its purpose is to help people reconnect with what they value about Google, amplify the company’s sense of innovation, and communicate its products, goals, and ideas in a way that feels inspiring and authentic.

This position is for a versatile creative professional who is excited about AI and eager to influence the future of creative work. The ideal person can think across imagery, motion, interaction, experience design, language, and sound. The work ranges from crafting polished posters to imagining how emerging technologies should exist in the real world, with a strong emphasis on pushing the boundaries of creativity, user experience, and communication.

Google’s marketing approach begins with technology and ends with the user. The team brings those two sides together in unexpected ways, showing how Google products address problems from the everyday to the extraordinary. The goal is to set a new bar for marketing, prioritize the user, and let the technology itself take center stage.

Minimum qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a creative field such as writing, filmmaking, video editing, design, art direction, or photography, with responsibility for leading projects from the initial brief through launch.
  • Practical experience using standard design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Proven ability to juggle several active projects at once while keeping priorities organized.
  • A portfolio that shows strong work across visual design, digital design, and digital product design, including both concept development and final execution in multiple formats.

Preferred qualifications

  • Background in large integrated campaigns or work that spans multiple teams and initiatives.
  • A well-formed perspective on Google’s products and brand.
  • Strong communication and presentation ability, including the ability to explain and defend design choices clearly.
  • Curiosity about emerging technology and its potential to improve the world and reshape the creative field.

Responsibilities

  • Identify design problems and create thoughtful, inventive ways to improve them using fresh tools, original content, and engaging digital experiences.
  • Work closely with marketers, writers, filmmakers, programmers, and producers to build cohesive creative work, while keeping stakeholders informed on status, ideas, questions, and progress.
  • Examine complex user needs and develop creative solutions that support product value, user experience, business objectives, and brand goals.
  • Collaborate with production and marketing partners to refine concepts and carry them through execution.

Compensation and benefits

The pay level is influenced by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In the US, the base range is $141,000 to $206,000 annually, plus a 15% target bonus, additional bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

Information about benefits is available through Google’s benefits resources.

Equal opportunity

Google states that it is an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer. Hiring decisions are made without regard to race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or veteran status. Qualified applicants are also considered regardless of criminal history, subject to applicable law. Accommodation support is available for applicants who need disability-related or other special assistance.
