Role Overview

Join a dynamic Community Dental Team providing exceptional dental care to diverse patients, including adults, children with special needs, and medically complex individuals. Operate within various settings such as dental departments, schools, residential homes, patient residences, and hospitals, delivering patient-centered support to clinicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Continuously assess and respond to the needs of patients, caregivers, and clinicians.
• Handle dental instruments and equipment safely within the oral cavity.
• Offer guidance to patients and their support networks on dental procedures, including pre- and post-treatment care, complication management, and pain relief.
• Prepare and close clinical areas before and after sessions.
• Conduct routine checks and maintenance of dental equipment, ensuring operational readiness and reporting malfunctions.
• Verify availability and functionality of both routine and emergency equipment.
• Maintain strict infection control by cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing instruments and treatment areas between patients.
• Select appropriate tools, materials, and instruments for patient care based on expertise.
• Process digital radiographs accurately.
• Contribute as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team delivering dental treatments.
• Manage instrument processing in decontamination rooms.

About the Team

The Community Dental Team is a small, progressive unit dedicated to supporting individuals with additional needs to access dental services. Patients typically come through referrals from social and healthcare providers for urgent or ongoing dental care. Clinics are located across Torquay, Newton Abbot, Torbay Hospital's Day Surgery Unit, and in patient homes.
