Job description

Role overview

This permanent position is for a delivery postie with driving duties based at Blandford Forum Delivery Office, DT11 7DN. The work is centred on getting mail and parcels to homes and businesses in the local area, representing the service face of the organisation in the community.

Working pattern

You will work 37 hours per week across 5 days out of 7, Monday through Sunday, with shifts scheduled between 07:00 and 17:30. The role covers two separate shift patterns: 07:00 to 15:00 for letter deliveries or 10:00 to 17:30 for parcel deliveries. Because of operational needs, you must also be available to work one Sunday in three, from 08:30 to 16:00.

What the job involves

The role is physically active and involves walking for extended periods, working outdoors in all kinds of weather, and delivering items such as exam results, tax returns, wedding invitations, and online purchases. It is a community-focused job that supports local residents and small businesses while helping keep deliveries moving reliably every day.

About the organisation

The business is investing in its future and reshaping how it operates. This is presented as a strong opportunity to join during a period of change and help deliver trusted service across the country.

Candidate profile

The right person will be positive, self-driven, well organised, punctual, and comfortable giving excellent customer service. You should enjoy meeting people, take pride in your work, value the community you serve, and be happy to spend long periods walking and working outdoors. A full UK manual driving licence is required, and you must have no more than 6 penalty points.

Pay and benefits

The role offers a guaranteed hourly rate of £13.68, paid monthly and adjusted to match your working hours. Benefits include 22.5 days of holiday that increase with service, a provided full uniform, a company pension with competitive contributions, development opportunities such as trainee manager roles and apprenticeship schemes, enhanced family leave support, 24/7 wellbeing support for you and your family, a range of retail and lifestyle discounts, and free stamps at Christmas.

Additional information

For search and recruitment purposes, roles between 35 and 37 hours per week are listed as full-time, although any role under 37 hours is classified as part-time in the employment contract.

If your application progresses, the first step will be an interview. Applicants are expected to keep their contact details current and review the listed document checklist and health-related guidance before applying.

Inclusion and adjustments

The organisation says it welcomes applications from everyone and is especially encouraging people from the Armed Forces community, including cadet instructors and spouses or partners. If you need adjustments during the hiring process, you should discuss them with the recruiter when they contact you.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
