Job description
Role overview
Royal Mail is hiring a permanent Delivery Postie with Driving in Rugby. This is an active, community-facing role based at the Rugby Delivery Office, CV21 1AA.
Working pattern
You’ll work 35 hours per week across 5 days from Monday to Sunday, with shifts scheduled between 10:00 and 17:00. Because of business needs, weekend cover will be required, including roughly one Sunday in four on a rota basis.
What the job involves
This position is centred on delivering mail and parcels to people and businesses in the local area. The work is physically demanding, often outdoors and in all weather conditions, but it offers the chance to stay active while serving the community. The role supports Royal Mail’s wider transformation and its goal of delivering reliably to every doorstep.
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate is upbeat, organised, dependable and able to work on their own initiative. You should enjoy dealing with people, provide friendly customer service, and be comfortable walking for long periods. A strong community mindset and pride in your work are important. You must also hold a full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
Pay and benefits
The role comes with a guaranteed hourly rate of £13.68, paid monthly and adjusted to suit your working hours. Additional benefits include 22.5 days of holiday, increasing with service, a full uniform, a company pension, career development opportunities including trainee manager and apprentice pathways, enhanced family leave support, wellbeing resources for you and your family, a range of retail and leisure discounts, and free stamps at Christmas.
Important notes
For search purposes, roles between 35 and 37 hours per week are shown as full-time, although contracts under 40 hours per week are classed as part-time in the employment agreement. Royal Mail also asks applicants to keep contact details current and be prepared to provide the requested documents and health-related information during the hiring process. The company welcomes applications from everyone and actively encourages candidates from the Armed Forces community, including cadet instructors and spouses or partners. Reasonable adjustments can be discussed with the recruiter if needed.
