Key responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and keep data centre equipment running, including servers, storage arrays, network gear, and rack systems.
• Carry out structured cabling tasks across copper and fibre networks in line with industry practices.
• Assist with rack-and-stack rollouts, hardware refreshes, migrations, and equipment retirements.
• Watch system activity and react to alerts, incidents, and service requests as they arise.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware, network connectivity, and infrastructure.
• Support high-performance computing platforms and AI infrastructure operations.
• Keep documentation current, including site layouts, asset records, and operating procedures.
• Perform regular checks on power, cooling, airflow, and other physical infrastructure elements.
• Work within change control and operational governance processes consistent with ITIL-style practices.
• Coordinate with engineers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to maintain reliability and uptime.

What you need

• Previous experience in a live data centre or other critical infrastructure environment.
• Practical knowledge of server hardware, structured cabling, and networking fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience installing, testing, and troubleshooting fibre and copper cabling.
• Working familiarity with switching, routing, and enterprise infrastructure setups.
• Understanding of PDUs, UPS units, and cooling systems.
• Strong troubleshooting ability and confidence working independently.
• Clear communication and solid documentation habits.
• A service-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Awareness of ITIL processes and service management principles.
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA, ITIL, or similar are considered an advantage.

Preferred background

• CompTIA Server+, Network+, or comparable infrastructure certifications.
• ITIL Foundation certification or experience in structured IT service management environments.
• Exposure to enterprise, hyperscale, or high-performance compute data centre operations.
• Experience with DCIM platforms, monitoring tools, or infrastructure management systems.
• Basic scripting or automation skills, such as PowerShell or Python, are beneficial.
• Experience supporting GPU infrastructure or AI-related compute environments is especially valued.
