Team Leader

Job summary

This role leads a group of technicians to make sure vehicle maintenance and repair work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with manufacturer specifications and internal procedures. The position focuses on delivering strong workmanship, keeping workshop output high, balancing workloads effectively, and meeting promised delivery timelines while supporting customer satisfaction goals and operational performance measures. It serves as the workshop’s first level of technical leadership, offering direction, coaching, quality checks, and troubleshooting support for challenging repair situations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist technicians with diagnosing complex vehicle issues and technical faults.
• Offer hands-on technical support for difficult repair jobs.
• Confirm that root-cause analysis is completed before repair work begins.
• Escalate major technical concerns when needed.
• Track repair quality across the team and ensure standards are maintained.
• Carry out post-repair inspections and quality audits.
• Verify that repairs meet manufacturer specifications.
• Help reduce rework and repeat visits through proactive quality control.
• Oversee daily workshop activity for the assigned team.
• Assign work according to technician capability and workshop priorities.
• Monitor job progress to keep operations efficient.
• Support productivity targets for the department.
• Ensure repairs follow approved manufacturer procedures.
• Check that warranty repair processes are performed correctly.
• Maintain accurate records for warranty-related work.
• Support internal and external audit requirements.
• Make sure jobs are completed within approved estimates and committed delivery dates.
• Monitor technician utilization and productivity.
• Support planning of resources and optimization of workflow.
• Coordinate with Parts, Service Advisors, Warranty, and Quality teams to prevent delays.
• Coach technicians and support their on-the-job development.
• Encourage a workplace culture built on safety, quality, and accountability.
• Support performance improvement efforts.
• Promote teamwork and knowledge sharing within the group.
• Assist Service Advisors with technical customer queries.
• Join customer discussions when technical explanation is required.
• Contribute to better customer satisfaction and service quality.

Requirements

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Manufacturer technical certification is preferred.
• Automotive diagnostic certification is preferred.
• At least 4 years of experience in an automotive workshop.
• Experience in a dealership-based automotive environment.
• Prior exposure to leading or mentoring technicians is preferred.
• Strong ability to diagnose vehicle issues.
• Working knowledge of manufacturer repair standards.
• Understanding of workshop operations.
• Leadership and coaching capability.
• Customer-service mindset with a focus on quality.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good command of English.
• Arabic is preferred.
