About the Role
Microsoft is seeking a Data Center Technician (DCT) to join its Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with standard procedures for preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and decommissioning data center equipment under the supervision of experienced technicians. This position offers a pathway to understand Microsoft's data center environment, security protocols, and data management practices, fostering significant career growth within the company. CO+I is responsible for the core infrastructure powering Microsoft's cloud services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. Responsibilities
- Assist in tracking and resolving issues by escalating problems, asking clarifying questions, and seeking guidance from senior technicians.
- Actively participate in daily safety briefings, complete all mandatory training (including safety and role-specific modules), and adhere strictly to safety procedures for equipment use, electrical hazards, and safe movement.
- Efficiently manage and complete assigned tickets, meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with support from colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with all security and data management policies and procedures, completing required security training.
- Maintain a strong client-centric approach, understanding the impact of your work on service delivery.
- Foster a positive and productive team atmosphere by sharing information, participating in team meetings, and staying informed about team progress.
- Take ownership and demonstrate pride in the quality, completeness, and maintenance of data center facilities.
- Uphold and embody Microsoft's core culture and values.
Qualifications
- Completion of High School, GED, or an equivalent vocational qualification or experience.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware and its components.
- Ability to pass Microsoft's Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
- Must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
