Job description
About the Role
As an Installation Specialist working from a Customer Delivery Hub, you’ll be responsible for taking John Lewis service directly to customers’ homes and fitting the products they’ve bought. This includes items such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems and televisions, and you’ll work as part of a two-person delivery team using a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
You must be 18 years old or over to perform this role.
What You’ll Do
- Represent the John Lewis brand and make excellent customer service your top priority.
- Work with the warehouse team to load the vehicle with the day’s deliveries.
- Treat customers’ homes with care and professionalism, and handle any unexpected issues by finding the best possible outcome.
- Install products quickly and correctly, then show customers how to use them once fitted.
- Keep your product and technology knowledge current so you can perform at a high standard.
- Help maintain a safe working environment at all times.
This role involves significant heavy lifting, including large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds and mattresses.
Experience and Skills Needed
Previous installation experience is essential. Full internal installer accreditation support will be provided to help build on your existing knowledge.
You’ll also need a manual C1 UK driving licence with no more than 6 points, a DCPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) or Driver Qualification Card by your first day, a Tachograph Card, prior experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle, and previous customer-facing experience. Strong spoken communication, both on the phone and in person, is required, along with a solid grasp of technology.
Desirable Experience
- Installing and disconnecting white goods.
- Fitting televisions.
- Assembling flat-pack furniture.
About the Partnership

Partners share in ownership and rewards, and the organisation is focused on creating a better world through strong service, innovation and collaboration. The business values kindness, respect, inclusion and the freedom for everyone to be themselves.
Important Information
Some roles are subject to pre-employment vetting, which may include DBS checks for successful candidates. If this applies, you’ll be told during recruitment and should complete any required documents promptly to avoid delays. DBS checks, where needed, will be completed by a third-party registered body, and some roles may also require financial probity checks.
Vacancies may close early if a large number of applications is received, so applying sooner rather than later is recommended. If you need a reasonable adjustment because of a disability and require more time to complete your application, you should contact the employer as early as possible.
The organisation supports flexible working and work-life balance where possible, which may include flexible hours, compressed hours, job sharing or shorter-hour contracts. These options can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview.
