Job description
Overview
As a Customer Delivery Driver for Tesco in Tiverton, you will be the company’s representative while delivering groceries directly to customers' homes. This role goes beyond just driving; it requires providing excellent service with a friendly attitude. The work is active, physically engaging, and varied, with each shift presenting new experiences. While you will spend much of your shift working independently, a supportive team is available at the base as needed.
Working Hours
- Sunday: 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Monday: 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Wednesday: 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- Friday: 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the van, trays, and work areas to ensure groceries are delivered in perfect condition.
- Load the delivery van safely and conduct thorough checks to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and dependable.
- Communicate clearly and kindly with customers regarding any order modifications, substitutions, or near-expiry items, offering refunds when necessary to ensure a smooth experience.
- Handle all products carefully, treating each order as your own to uphold quality and customer trust.
- Deliver orders within the allocated time slots while providing warm and genuine service at the customer’s doorstep, making customers feel valued.
Candidate Requirements
- Develop positive working relationships with colleagues to foster great teamwork and deliver outstanding customer service.
- Be warm and approachable with both customers and team members.
- Adapt quickly to changing customer requirements and embrace dynamic conditions both on the road and in-store.
- Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (manual or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 per hour for stores within the M25. Additional financial incentives may apply depending on location.
- Guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week, with some roles available from 12 hours per week.
- Paid holiday entitlement starting at 20 days plus one personal day, increasing to 22 days after 12 months, in addition to Bank Holidays.
