Job description

About Nova Sky Stories

Nova Sky Stories creates live audience experiences that blend imaginative direction with advanced drone technology. As a pioneer in drone entertainment, the company has spent more than ten years reimagining sky-based performances through small, lightweight, highly accurate, and safety-focused drones built to operate in challenging conditions such as city environments, extreme heat or cold, and strong winds. Headquartered in the United States with teams in Europe and the UAE, Nova Sky Stories works with major brands, venues, and events worldwide.

The company is seeking an experienced and collaborative Creative Director to help shape a growing storytelling medium within the Sky Story industry. This role partners with clients and collaborators to develop original concepts and works closely with Nova's Design Studio to turn those ideas into finished experiences.

Role overview

This position is especially suited to someone with a background in cultural storytelling, including tourism, heritage sites, place-based narratives, or related forms of story-led experience design. The role also involves bringing together teams across engineering, operations, and finance to balance creativity, technical feasibility, and business objectives.

The Sky Story field is still developing, so the company is looking for someone who can adapt, experiment, and help define what this medium can become.

What you'll do

  • Shape creative proposals for long-running shows, installations, and residencies.
  • Work directly with clients to understand goals and convert them into strong, story-led concepts.
  • Collaborate with the Nova Design Studio to develop, test, and refine creative directions.
  • Guide projects from early concepting through production, delivery, and final execution.
  • Bring cross-functional teams into alignment so that artistic intent, technical practicality, and commercial goals all stay connected.
  • Support sales and business development through decks, pitches, and other creative presentation materials.

What the company is looking for

  • At least 10 years of experience in storytelling, creative entertainment, cultural preservation, or a closely related field.
  • Strong grounding in cultural storytelling, ideally informed by anthropology, history, or heritage-focused work.
  • Demonstrated success leading initiatives from idea stage through completion.
  • Experience building sales-support materials such as pitch decks and presentations.
  • A humble, open-minded, and collaborative style with a commitment to learning and growth.

Traits that help you succeed

  • Genuine curiosity about drones and new technologies as creative tools.
  • The ability to communicate ideas clearly and convincingly, both in presentations and in feedback discussions.
  • A team-first approach and comfort working in highly collaborative creative settings.
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset with strong ownership of results.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities as projects evolve.
  • High creative standards and a willingness to use feedback constructively.

Success factors

  • Turn broad ideas into organized, actionable creative processes.
  • Juggle multiple projects and deadlines while protecting quality.
  • Encourage experimentation and new thinking within the medium.
  • Partner with internal teams, clients, and outside collaborators to bring concepts to life.
  • Work quickly without losing sight of creative excellence.
  • Help maintain a feedback-rich culture by both giving and receiving input.
  • Stay flexible and adjust direction when project conditions change.

Compensation and benefits

The posted salary range is USD 190,000 to USD 225,000 per year. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Flexible PTO and paid sick leave
  • Paid parental leave
  • Company-paid holidays
  • Equity opportunities for eligible employees
