About the Role

Zaxbys is looking to add a full-time cook to its restaurant team in Athens, GA. In this role, you’ll help create a positive guest experience by preparing quality food quickly and consistently while keeping the kitchen running smoothly.

Team members are expected to contribute to a fun, friendly dining environment and support both back-of-house and front-of-house needs as required.

What You’ll Do

  • Complete all required training, including the back-of-house development plan, hands-on station training, and any other training assigned by the company.
  • Deliver warm, energetic service to guests and support the overall customer experience.
  • Stay aware of current promotions and represent the brand in a positive way.
  • Assist with guest service and front-of-house tasks when needed.
  • Prepare menu items according to company standards while following safe and sanitary practices.
  • Handle food and beverages in line with safety rules and guidelines.
  • Operate kitchen and food-preparation equipment safely.
  • Keep assigned stations stocked so orders can be made without delay.
  • Cook and assemble menu items accurately and efficiently.
  • Package guest orders correctly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Care for equipment and alert management when repairs or maintenance are needed.
  • Support inventory and storage processes, including receiving deliveries and stocking supplies.
  • Store food correctly and follow food safety rules for holding and rotation.
  • Notify management when supplies or inventory need to be replenished.
  • Keep storage spaces clean and organized.
  • Work with urgency, follow safety procedures, and take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • You should be able to work between 32 and 40 hours each week.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing, including ladder use.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of up to 50 pounds, including overhead lifting.
  • Regular use of hands and wrists for gripping and precise hand movements.
  • Strong verbal, reading, and written communication skills.
  • Good visual and auditory awareness to notice and respond appropriately to surroundings.
  • Comfort working around hot and cold conditions and food allergens.
  • Ability to safely use restaurant tools and equipment such as knives, fryers, and other potentially hazardous items.
