Role overview

This position is for a field-based Content Claims Specialist joining the edjuster team across Barrie, Orillia, Brantford, and West Gwillimbury, Ontario. The job combines working from home with travel inside the assigned territory.

The role focuses on helping assess, record, and value contents involved in total loss insurance claims. Using the company’s process and platform, the specialist works to document lost items quickly and accurately.

What you will do

  • Visit claim locations to meet adjusters, policyholders, and other vendors, and complete inventories of total loss contents.
  • Run virtual meetings with policyholders to gather information for total loss content recreations, using guided memory techniques to capture non-restorable items accurately.
  • Help ensure claims are completed on time and in line with productivity expectations and the Performance Excellence Guarantee.
  • Coordinate with internal support teams to organize the resources needed for inventory work and like, kind, and quality valuation, while meeting productivity standards.
  • Provide timely, clear updates to adjusters and policyholders throughout the content claims process.
  • Record detailed work and time logs every day for all completed claim activities.
  • Keep claim notes updated in the company platform for each task involved in the file.
  • Work with the wider team to complete pricing accurately and follow like, kind, and quality standards.
  • Represent the company’s brand and reputation in a professional, positive way.
  • Track and submit claim-related expenses according to policy and deadlines.
  • Plan and manage daily work using an organized calendar so appointments and priorities are handled efficiently in a fast-moving environment.

Who should apply

This opportunity is suited to candidates with a secondary school diploma and relevant experience from insurance, customer service, retail, food and beverage, construction, or restoration. Experience in property claims is an added advantage.

Applicants should be comfortable with field travel, independent work, customer interaction, digital tools, and maintaining accurate records. A valid driver’s license, access to an insured vehicle, and the ability to meet background and reference checks are required.

Requirements and qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma.
  • Experience in insurance, customer service, retail, food and beverage, construction, or restoration is considered relevant.
  • Background in property claims is an advantage.
  • Strong customer service abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Reliable insured vehicle for travel within the assigned region.
  • Current valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Office, Google Workspace, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change and new technology.
  • Willingness to learn and improve continuously.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and employment reference verification.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
  • Physical capacity for repetitive motions and tasks.
  • Comfort with identifying household goods and assigning reasonable values.

Working conditions

  • Travel is an essential part of the role.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be needed, with a corporate credit card provided for eligible work travel expenses.
  • Work may involve exposure to different site conditions, including cold, heat, rain, and debris.
  • A functional home office is required, including reliable internet and a quiet workspace for remote work, virtual meetings, and secure data handling.
  • Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when visiting sites that are dirty, smelly, or hazardous.
