About the Role
We are looking for a meticulous and seasoned Construction Accountant to join Abu Alnaga Contracting's expanding team based in Dubai. The role requires a solid grasp of accounting fundamentals paired with direct experience in the construction domain. You will be instrumental in managing financial aspects of projects, job costing, and ensuring precise financial reporting for all construction-related activities.
Key Duties
- Handle end-to-end accounting processes including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliation.
- Manage job costing activities by monitoring project budgets, actual costs, and profitability across multiple ongoing construction projects.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements.
- Process AIA and progress billings, oversee subcontractor payments, and manage lien waivers.
- Track and control Work-in-Progress schedules along with overbilling and underbilling reports.
- Assist in payroll processing, specifically certified payroll for projects under prevailing wage regulations when needed.
- Ensure adherence to tax laws, construction contracts, and internal financial controls.
- Work closely with project managers for cost forecasting and tracking project change orders.
- Support external auditors during year-end audit activities and maintain liaison with auditors and tax professionals.
- Continuously improve accounting procedures tailored to construction operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Between 6 to 8 years of professional accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years in the construction sector.
- Proficiency with construction accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint Vista, Procore, QuickBooks, or similar tools.
- Deep understanding of job costing methodologies, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting standards.
- Knowledge of AIA billing, subcontractor oversight, and lien waiver procedures.
- Familiarity with prevailing wage regulations, certified payroll, and union reporting is advantageous.
- Certification as a CPA or current CPA candidate is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication capabilities.
- Ability to handle multiple projects efficiently in a dynamic work environment.
- Arabic language proficiency is desirable.
