Job description
Role overview
This position sits within Tubular Running Services (TRS) and supports well construction by helping manage the safe, efficient running, handling, and makeup of casing and tubing during drilling work. The role is based in demanding onshore and offshore environments and involves using specialized mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools.
What you will do
- Safely operate TRS tools and systems, including power tongs, elevators, slips, spiders, torque-turn equipment, and hydraulic power units.
- Support rig-up and rig-down activities for TRS systems such as stabbing boards, power units, and tubular handling tools.
- Coordinate clearly with the drill floor operator, clients, and subcontracted teams to keep operations aligned and safe.
- Carry out basic checks, fault-finding, and minor maintenance on TRS equipment before, during, and after the job.
- Follow all safety procedures, take part in rig safety meetings, and escalate hazards or operational concerns without delay.
- Prepare job records and activity reports, and assist with operational tasks as directed by the Operations Coordinator.
What you need to bring
- Working knowledge of the oil and gas sector, with previous TRS or drilling-field experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to handle mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment safely and correctly.
- Good communication and teamwork skills for working with rig crews, supervisors, and clients in high-pressure conditions.
- A two-year technical qualification is preferred, or an equivalent mix of technical training and hands-on field experience.
- Strong problem-solving ability, plus the discipline to follow procedures, inspect equipment, and keep operations ready.
- Willingness to travel for onshore/offshore work and adapt to variable schedules, including on-call and shift-based assignments.
