Summary
The Commercial Portfolio Lead is responsible for maximizing the value and access of a designated product portfolio through innovative commercial strategies, go-to-market models, and strategic partnerships. This role fosters collaboration within country and cross-country teams to effectively execute portfolio strategies within resource constraints, maintaining portfolio value and operational excellence post-loss of exclusivity (LoE).
About the Role
Job Purpose: Lead portfolio strategy, partnerships, and late-stage lifecycle management to drive value and access across the portfolio lifecycle. Develop innovative go-to-market approaches and ensure efficient collaboration across various functions to implement strategies sustainably.
Major Accountabilities
- Identify and assess partnership opportunities through proactive external market scanning.
- Lead negotiations for partnerships, licensing, or distribution agreements aligning with strategic goals.
- Manage and maintain strategic alliances, ensuring they deliver value and adapt to changing business needs.
- Lead pilot international partnership initiatives with potential for regional or global expansion.
Digital Marketing Execution
- Utilize digital platforms to sustain brand visibility, customer engagement, and compliance.
- Oversee digital content and channel management to guarantee relevance, regulatory adherence, and governance.
Lifecycle Management
- Develop loss-of-exclusivity strategies through early detection and customized brand planning.
- Integrate brands from Therapeutic Areas into the commercial portfolio, ensuring smooth transfer of assets, budgets, and analytics.
- Collaborate with Legal, Value & Access, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to forecast post-LoE volume and revenue impact.
- Design and deploy late-stage lifecycle strategies to maintain brand value after exclusivity expires.
- Decide on retiring or externalizing assets to reduce maintenance effort and simplify operations.
Portfolio Management
- Oversee portfolio budgeting and forecasting to support strategic and operational goals.
- Monitor brand performance and market trends to inform decisions and maintain vigilance.
- Coordinate with Regulatory teams to ensure comprehensive portfolio management, including managing Risk Management Plans.
- Respond promptly to operational issues such as product recalls or packaging inquiries.
- Work with Supply Chain to minimize stock-outs, inventory write-offs, and improve operational efficiency.
Key Performance Indicators
- Achieve portfolio P&L targets, encompassing revenue, profitability, and market share.
- Successful formation and management of commercial partnerships and alliances.
- Performance metrics related to digital engagement and channels.
- Effective brand management, sustaining value especially after LoE.
- Efficient budget control aligned with portfolio priorities.
Ideal Background
- University degree in Science or Business; preferred advanced degrees include Bioscience, Medicine, Business, or Management.
- Proven experience managing P&L and commercial portfolios.
- At least ten years of experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector.
