Job overview
This part-time Clinical Pharmacist position is based at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, within the Pharmacy ward. The role sits at Band 7 and is offered by Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The working pattern is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:15. Pay is set at £28.90 per hour.
Core duties
- Take part in clinical pharmacy activities such as reviewing prescriptions, advising patients, reporting adverse drug reactions, monitoring therapeutic drug levels, and tailoring treatment to individual patient needs.
- Carry out dispensary-related clinical and technical work as needed based on service demand.
- Offer specialist guidance to doctors and nurses on safe, cost-conscious, and effective use of medicines, while supporting the Medicines Management Policy, Hospital Formulary, and other Trust medicines policies.
- Contribute to the department’s in-house teaching programme for a range of learners and staff, including trainee pharmacists, pharmacists, diploma students, undergraduates, technicians, and student technicians.
- Help design, plan, and introduce improvements to clinical pharmacy services and other changes related to medicines management.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants should hold current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have a Master’s degree in Pharmacy, or an equivalent qualification recognised in the UK. A postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy is preferred.
Previous NHS experience is strongly desirable, particularly in a clinical pharmacy setting. Candidates must also have current UK professional registration.
Additional conditions
This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check. It is also subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Working pattern
The post follows a weekday schedule only, with hours set across Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:15.
