About the Role
StockX, a leading marketplace for current culture, is seeking a Category Manager for Sneakers to drive growth within a new, high-priority commerce initiative. This role is crucial for expanding how sneaker culture is represented on StockX through community-focused commerce experiences that blend storytelling, expertise, and transactions. The ideal candidate will be deeply immersed in the sneaker market, acting as the primary expert and owner of the sneaker category's success.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the strategic growth plan for the sneaker category on the platform.
- Oversee and manage the category's performance, focusing on supply, user engagement, and revenue generation.
- Set quarterly objectives, key performance indicators, and operational cadences.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of sneaker culture, including key influencers, sub-segments, market trends, and economic dynamics.
- Serve as the internal advocate for the sneaker community, providing insights to inform product, marketing, and platform development.
- Develop and manage a robust pipeline of high-impact sneaker sellers, shops, influencers, and creators.
- Personally recruit and onboard prominent sellers to establish the platform's tone and credibility.
- Create seller engagement strategies that balance authenticity, narrative, and commercial objectives.
- Identify and coordinate sneaker-specific campaigns, events, and formats to boost engagement and sales.
- Collaborate with the Category Marketing team to design culturally relevant promotional activities.
- Experiment with new strategies and adapt quickly based on performance data and feedback.
- Work closely with Account and Partnerships Managers to expand seller acquisition and support efforts.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to enhance features and tools beneficial to sneaker sellers and buyers.
- Provide clear, data-driven market insights to influence product roadmap priorities.
- Document best practices, frameworks, and learnings to support the expansion of category management across the organization.
- Assist in defining excellence standards for category ownership at StockX.
- Support the hiring and onboarding process as the sneaker category team expands.
Requirements
- A profound understanding of sneaker culture, including its key figures, platforms, trends, and economics, with existing connections within the ecosystem.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in category management, partnerships, marketplace growth, brand management, or operational roles within the sneaker, streetwear, or related industries.
- Proven ability to take ownership of outcomes and drive execution, adaptation, and iteration.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills with demonstrated credibility among sellers, creators, and community members.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with a solid grasp of pricing, margins, liquidity, and incentive structures.
- An entrepreneurial mindset, resourcefulness, and enthusiasm for building initiatives from the ground up.

The base salary range in Colorado for this position is $120,000 to $130,000, plus opportunities for benefits (e.g., medical, dental), equity and discretionary bonuses.
