Job description
Job summary
This position is focused on handling high volumes of cash within the Cash Centre. The selected candidate will be expected to receive, verify, process, balance, and account for cash transactions in line with bank policies, operational procedures, legal requirements, and risk controls. The role also places strong emphasis on secure cash custody, accuracy, efficiency, and dependable service delivery.
Key duties
- Show awareness of cost control and understand how individual actions affect productivity and expense.
- Accept, organise, count, confirm, and process large cash deposits and withdrawals.
- Make sure all cash activity is balanced and reconciled within the required timelines.
- Identify and escalate counterfeit, suspicious, or unusual cash activity.
- Follow prescribed cash handling steps, control measures, and security protocols.
- Prepare, update, and keep accurate records and supporting documentation for transactions.
- Support vault balancing and management of cash stock levels.
- Work in line with compliance obligations and risk reduction measures.
- Look into cash differences and help resolve them promptly.
- Maintain a clear audit trail and assist with both internal and external audit checks.
- Help the Cash Centre meet productivity targets and service expectations.
Working arrangements
The Cash Centre operates 7 days a week.
Qualifications and experience
- A degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or another relevant discipline.
- Between 1 and 2 years of experience in cash handling, teller duties, cash centre work, or a similar banking setting.
- Strong ability with numbers and reconciliations.
- Excellent accuracy and careful attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of banking processes and cash management controls.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet firm deadlines.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Computer skills, including confidence with Microsoft Office tools.
