Role overview
The role focuses on building business intelligence solutions that convert data from multiple systems into reliable, timely insights for both strategic and day-to-day decision-making. The position involves shaping data, producing reports, and creating dashboards that help the business act on evidence rather than assumptions.
Core responsibilities
- Create interactive dashboards and reports with Power BI or a comparable BI platform.
- Present complex information in a way that is easy to understand and useful for business users.
- Follow accepted data visualisation standards and best practices.
- Design and deliver BI solutions that match defined business needs.
- Examine data to uncover patterns, trends, and the main drivers of performance.
- Reduce manual effort by automating reporting workflows.
- Develop and improve dimensional data models, including star and snowflake structures.
- Write SQL and T-SQL queries and scripts for extracting, transforming, and validating data.
- Check data consistency and reconcile figures across different systems.
- Work with business teams to gather requirements and turn them into BI outputs.
- Partner with data engineers and data scientists to maintain data integrity and alignment.
- Share knowledge and help build a stronger data-driven culture.
- Look for ways to improve analytics and reporting capability over time.
- Keep up with new BI tools, technologies, and industry practices.
- Follow data governance, security, and regulatory standards.
- Put in place data-quality checks and validation controls.
- Document data models, dashboards, and related processes clearly.
Technical and professional requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a closely related field.
- Between 1 and 3 years of experience in a business intelligence or data analytics environment.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI or a similar reporting tool.
- Strong SQL / T-SQL capability.
- Working knowledge of dimensional data modelling.
- 1 to 3 years of experience using the Microsoft BI stack, including SSIS and SSAS Tabular.
- Understanding of DAX.
- Experience with data integration and automated reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear communication and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy.
- Ability to work well in a fast-moving, delivery-oriented environment.
