Role overview

Freedom is hiring a Buyer to support procurement activity within its Network Services business in the North. The role focuses on securing strong commercial outcomes across contracts, partnering with operational teams and supply chain stakeholders to improve performance, manage spend, and drive ongoing improvements.

Location and contract

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Leeds or Stowmarket, with a hybrid working setup. The salary is competitive and comes with flexible benefits.

What you will do

  • Help maintain compliance with health and safety procedures and encourage a safety-first approach.
  • Take part in or lead supplier performance reviews, making sure service levels are achieved and action plans are followed.
  • Work with operational colleagues to ensure suppliers and subcontractors deliver the best overall value.
  • Contribute procurement expertise, pricing information, and supply chain input to tender exercises.
  • Support improvement initiatives that strengthen procurement and supply chain performance.
  • Build and apply procurement plans that match contract requirements.
  • Lead or assist with procurement tasks such as tenders, negotiations, and placing orders.
  • Coordinate with operational teams on procurement planning and scheduling.
  • Support delivery of savings, margin growth, and rebate objectives.
  • Create procurement reports and help maintain contract performance dashboards.
  • Attend contract review meetings, record actions, and make sure they are progressed.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have experience in buying or procurement, preferably gained in construction, utilities, or infrastructure. You should understand supplier management and performance tracking, and be comfortable supporting or leading tendering and negotiation activity. A solid commercial mindset, strong communication, and confident stakeholder engagement are important, along with the ability to work closely with operational and supply chain teams. Good organisation and attention to detail are also essential.
