Role overview
This full-time permanent Buyer position sits within Freedom’s Network Services division in the North, supporting procurement activity that helps deliver strong commercial outcomes. The role is based in Leeds with a hybrid working arrangement and offers a competitive salary plus flexible benefits.
What you’ll be doing
- Champion safe working by following Health & Safety procedures and helping reinforce a safety-first approach.
- Take ownership of supplier performance reviews and help ensure service levels are achieved and improved where needed.
- Partner with operational teams to make sure suppliers and subcontractors deliver the best possible value.
- Provide procurement input for tender activity, including pricing support and supply chain insight.
- Help drive continuous improvement across procurement processes and wider supply chain performance.
- Create and roll out procurement approaches that match contract needs.
- Lead or assist with buying activity such as tenders, negotiations and placing orders.
- Work with operational stakeholders to plan procurement schedules and priorities.
- Support the achievement of savings, margin uplift and rebate objectives.
- Prepare procurement reporting and contribute to contract performance dashboards.
- Attend contract review meetings, track actions and make sure they are progressed.
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in buying or procurement, ideally gained in construction, utilities or infrastructure.
- Solid knowledge of supplier management and how to monitor performance effectively.
- Hands-on experience with tendering and negotiation, either supporting or leading the process.
- Commercially minded, with a focus on controlling cost and improving value.
- Confident communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work well with operational colleagues and external supply chain partners.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
