Job description

About Ataraxis AI

Ataraxis is an AI precision medicine company focused on the overlap of multimodal artificial intelligence and oncology. The team builds and rolls out AI-first tools that help physicians choose the most effective treatment options for their patients.

The company’s goal is to reshape cancer care and affect at least half of all newly diagnosed cancer cases by 2030. Its products already include the Ataraxis Breast platform for breast cancer, and its solutions are used every day to support patients in receiving better-matched care. Ataraxis works with leading academic medical centers across the United States as well as smaller community clinics to improve care through advanced technology.

This role offers a rare chance to influence both the company’s direction and the future of healthcare. You will join a highly capable team building and deploying healthcare-focused AI at the edge of research and real-world use. The organization brings together top AI researchers, physicians, and experienced industry leaders. Its advisors include AI pioneers such as Yann LeCun and respected oncologists from major cancer research institutions, all aligned around redefining precision medicine.

Ataraxis has raised $24 million in total funding, including a $20.4 million Series A closed in early 2025 with support from major venture firms such as AIX Ventures, Thiel Capital, Founders Fund, and Obvious Ventures.

The company operates with a flat structure where every team member is expected to contribute directly. Leadership is based on initiative and strong results. A strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize aggressively are essential.

Role Overview

The Business Operations hire will work closely with the Chief of Staff and CEO on planning, budgeting, and core operating rhythms. The role is central to translating company performance into clear visibility and actionable growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Chief of Staff and CEO on financial planning, budgeting, and broader business operations, while helping create clear visibility into performance and growth paths.
  • Develop models, dashboards, and KPI frameworks that support company-wide decisions and surface opportunities, risks, and improvement areas.
  • Assess make-or-buy choices using market research, financial evaluation, and strategic judgment, then present concise recommendations to leadership.
  • Spot bottlenecks in operations and create scalable processes that let the business grow efficiently with the technology.
  • Own complex cross-functional special projects from idea stage through delivery, such as market expansion analysis, customer pipeline improvements, or vendor structuring.
  • Step into the company’s most urgent operational needs and take responsibility for whatever matters most as the business scales.

Requirements

  • 1-3+ years of experience in strategy consulting, business operations, finance, or similar analytical/strategy functions.
  • Strong command of Excel and financial modeling.
  • Ability to create dashboards and carry out light data analysis.
  • Excellent organization and the ability to manage several priorities at once without losing track.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce a polished memo or report with little editing.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to take an undefined request and turn it into a finished deliverable with minimal support.
  • High ownership and a low-ego mindset; willing to handle any task that moves the company ahead.
  • Fast-moving, action-oriented approach with a habit of following through instead of waiting.
  • Startup or early-stage company experience is an added advantage.
