Job description
About Waymo
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company working toward a future where it is the world’s most trusted driver. Originating from the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, the company has focused on developing the Waymo Driver, a self-driving system designed to expand mobility while helping reduce the number of lives lost in road accidents. The Waymo Driver supports Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be used across different vehicle platforms and product applications. It has already completed more than ten million rider-only trips, backed by over 100 million autonomous miles on public roads and tens of billions of miles in simulation across more than 15 U.S. states.
Team Overview
The Strategy & BizOps team is responsible for shaping and executing the company’s go-to-market direction. The group uses both quantitative and qualitative analysis to build long-term business strategy and support commercial deployment. It is a highly analytical, proactive team that focuses on identifying and delivering work with strong business impact.
Role Summary
This position is based on a hybrid work model and reports to the Director of Business Operations. The Business Analyst will help drive research, support strategic decision-making, and turn data into practical actions that advance the Ridehail business.
What You’ll Do
- Lead research efforts, evaluate market and business trends, and help shape as well as implement business strategy.
- Own business analysis work that converts raw data into insights that can guide decisions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to keep initiatives moving and deliver strong outcomes.
- Present business findings and key recommendations to senior leaders and the wider organization.
- Help define the scope of analyses, prioritize work across multiple streams, and manage resource allocation.
- Develop the ideas needed to solve problems and take end-to-end ownership of solutions for the Ridehail business.
What You’ll Bring
The role calls for 5–10 years of experience in analytical roles, along with a strong interest in championing the solutions generated from your analysis. You should bring excellent quantitative and modeling ability, including advanced Excel or Google Sheets and required SQL skills, as well as the capability to build data-backed business cases. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, especially when presenting to senior leadership. The job also requires the ability to provide guidance in business and data analytics, statistical methods, and business context to client organizations. A naturally curious mindset and the persistence to keep exploring until the underlying issue is clear are important as well.
Preferred Experience
- Background in a fast-growing technology or mobility company.
- Ability to build ad hoc dashboards for personal or small-team use, and familiarity with Python, R, or similar languages for statistical analysis.
- Experience supporting commercialization or go-to-market strategy, such as pricing or partner strategy, and helping with P&L ownership.
