Job description

Role objective

The branch head will be responsible for steering the Jaipur branch through careful planning, efficient resource management, and execution of sales plans that support achievement of the branch’s business goals. The role is focused on improving market share and strengthening brand presence in a cost-conscious manner.

Role context and key challenges

This position requires leadership of the assigned branch with a strong focus on business delivery and operational discipline.

  • Delivering results in a market affected by unethical selling practices.
  • Keeping the sales force engaged and retained in a highly competitive environment.
  • Maintaining the quality of newly onboarded advisors, especially since every recruit cannot be personally monitored.
  • Ensuring new advisors receive proper product and process knowledge despite weak attendance in training sessions.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop branch sales plans and achieve targets for agent count, productivity, new premium, and business persistency.
  • Study market trends, competition, and growth opportunities, and plan branch expansion in coordination with the head office.
  • Use a balanced product strategy, customer targeting, sales contests, and investment advisory support to drive performance.
  • Implement the approved plans and track progress closely to ensure desired outcomes.
  • Improve productivity of the field team through active people management and regular engagement.
  • Conduct ongoing training for advisors and share updated information provided by the company.
  • Discuss promotional structures, review competition activity, activisation, and club membership progress with advisors.
  • Build effective work practices, run productivity-improvement initiatives, and organize focused training programs.
  • Protect business persistency by carrying out random quality checks on sourced business.
  • Ensure strong post-sales servicing so customer relationships are maintained.
  • Maintain financial discipline within the branch and keep control over cash handling.
  • Ensure budgets are followed for both capital and operating expenses.
  • Drive complete compliance at the branch to support smooth and productive operations.
  • Monitor process adherence and keep the sales and operations teams informed about changes in underwriting, IRDA guidelines, and sales processes.
  • Plan and execute sales and recruitment promotions to meet branch targets.
  • Work with head office teams to implement central campaigns and initiatives.
  • Review customer feedback on products, services, processes, and team performance, and recommend improvements.
  • Manage general branch administration to ensure smooth, cost-effective functioning.
  • Guide, coach, and supervise the team through continuous on-the-job development.
  • Support skill building through classroom as well as workplace training.
  • Arrange periodic job rotations to broaden team exposure across branch activities.

Skills and competencies
