Job description
Position Summary

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain current bed utilization data by managing bed maps, waiting lists, and monitoring patient discharges and transfers at assigned sites.
- Assign beds to acute care patients by assessing requirements, including elective operating room scheduling, verifying availability, and ensuring assignments meet nursing unit standards.
- Coordinate with nursing units, hospital departments, physicians, and external hospitals or agencies regarding bed status, patient placement, and usage.
- Collaborate with BC Bedline by handling relevant inquiries, directing calls appropriately to Access or Shift Coordinators, and updating bedline census per policy.
- Process computer entries for patient discharges and transfer requests.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- At least three years of recent related work experience or a combination of education and experience equivalent to this.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Ability to type at a speed of 40 words per minute.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to engage positively with others.
- Organizational competence to manage work efficiently.
- Capability to operate relevant office and computer equipment.
- Physical capacity to perform necessary job functions.
