Role overview
The Barista will create high-quality hot and cold beverage experiences by preparing coffee, tea, and specialty drinks to Rosewood’s service expectations. This position plays an important part in delivering memorable guest moments through product consistency, polished presentation, attentive service, and spotless work areas.
Guest service
- Provide every guest with attentive, courteous, and personalized service.
- Learn guest preferences and suggest drinks or food combinations that suit their tastes.
- Stay alert to guest requests or concerns and respond quickly and professionally.
- Represent the brand’s approach to warm, genuine, luxury hospitality in every interaction.
Beverage preparation and service
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, fresh juices, mocktails, and other specialty beverages according to set recipes and quality standards.
- Keep beverage quality, consistency, temperature, and presentation at the expected level before serving.
- Maintain solid knowledge of coffee origins, brewing techniques, and the full beverage menu.
Equipment, cleanliness, and operations
- Use and care for coffee machines, grinders, and related equipment properly.
- Keep counters, stations, and service areas neat, organized, sanitized, and fully supplied.
- Carry out daily opening and closing routines as required by the department.
- Inspect inventory levels and update supervisors when replenishment is needed.
- Support stock rotation using FIFO practices and help reduce waste.
- Clean and maintain equipment in line with manufacturer instructions.
Food safety and standards
- Follow food safety, HACCP, and sanitation requirements at all times.
- Maintain grooming and personal hygiene standards expected by the property.
- Observe health, safety, and emergency procedures consistently.
Qualifications and experience
Professional barista certification is preferred. Candidates should have 1 to 2 years of barista experience in a luxury hotel, upscale café, restaurant, or similar hospitality setting. Experience with specialty coffee and espresso-based beverages is an added advantage.
Skills and competencies
The role calls for strong coffee-making ability, good latte art technique, excellent communication, and a strong guest-service mindset. A working knowledge of coffee beans, brewing methods, and current beverage trends is also important.
