About Cap Vista
Cap Vista serves as the venture investment division of MINDEF, focusing on driving innovation by integrating disruptive dual-use technologies. We collaborate strategically with venture capitalists, innovation hubs, government bodies, and ecosystem partners. Our primary interest areas include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, autonomy and robotics, sensors, network systems, and communications.
Role Overview
The Associate will play a central role in accelerating the adoption of breakthrough technologies sourced from startups to benefit the Defence Technology Community (DTC). This position offers exposure to cutting-edge domains such as spacetech, quantum computing, advanced manufacturing, synthetic biology, and AI/data analytics. The role involves close cooperation with MINDEF stakeholders, DTC colleagues, entrepreneurs, and partners from prominent agencies like Enterprise Singapore, the National Research Foundation, A*STAR, alongside international trade and defence organizations, venture builders, and corporate innovators.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Cap Vista in developing strategies and frameworks aimed at leveraging dual-use technologies and innovations originating from startups.
- Collaborate with team members to pinpoint and unlock commercial value from emerging technologies, including involvement in technology and operational initiatives such as the Cap Vista Accelerator program.
- Craft strategies for technology adoption that foster new operational capabilities.
- Evaluate and communicate the benefits and applicability of tech solutions against operational concepts.
Education and Experience
- Possession of an engineering degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Between 3 and 5 years of pertinent experience working within startup partnerships, venture capital environments, or agencies focused on deep-tech sectors.
Skills and Knowledge
- Demonstrated keen interest in the startup ecosystem, particularly early-stage ventures, with willingness to rapidly acquire expertise in venture capital and broaden professional networks.
- Strong enthusiasm for technology and innovation, coupled with adaptability to learn across various technological disciplines.
